There are so many fun things to do with your friends in Tallahassee on Valentine’s Day weekend. Some start early, and some events require pre-booking tickets; make sure you double-check!

Galentine’s Day, usually February 13th, was created for the show Parks and Rec (season 02, episode 16), where the main character Leslie Knope celebrates her friendships. Palentine’s Day is a more gender-neutral way for guys to join in on celebrating their friendship. This is also celebrated on February 13th. Whatever you want to call it, or who you want to celebrate, there are a lot of activities around town for your friends.

Brunch: Brunch with friends is always a great option. Many of the local eateries in town are open only for breakfast and lunch, making them perfect spots for a fun or casual meet-up. Some options include Jeri’s, The Monroe, Dear Sunday Cafe, The Egg Cafe and Eatery, Canopy Road Cafe, Little Paris, Madison Social, Ma’s Diner, and the newly opened Damas.

Other Food and Drink Options: Tallahassee has a robust restaurant scene, try a new place or an old favorite, and catch up with friends! Some options are The Melting Pot, Zaan’s, Black Radish, The Lounge at Market Square, Hayward House, El Viroleño, Sage, Charlie Park, Ur Bowl, Brickhouse, Izzy’s Pub and Suishi, Cafe de Martin, Dao, Earley’s Kitchen, Persis, Cool Beanz, Aaru’s, Bella Bella, Cafe Yerushalmi, La Tiendita, Bar 1903, VeneBites, Mimi’s Table and Bistro, Pho Me, Chile & Chili's, the Hummingbird Wine Bar, and Bird’s Oyster Shack. Another option is a Murder-Mystery Dinner Theater, performed on February 14. Or a lovely chat over tea at All Things Tea in Rabbit Market, which can be followed by a shopping trip.

Activities: From laser tag to bowling, a group can have a lot of fun at District 850, play a game of pickleball at The Pickle Pad, climb an indoor rock wall at Alchemy Climbing, or play a round of Disc Golf at Tom Brown Park. Get a group together to skate at Skate World or escape from an escape room at Secrets Escape Rooms. Throw axes or channel your inner Jackson Pollock at Tomahawks 51. Another idea is to spend some time at Flippin’ Great Pinballs, which has 70 pinball machines. The Bark hosts Punk Prom again on the 13th, which is always fun. Another option is Courtyard Games and Cafe, which offers board games and drinks. Railroad Square Art Park also has many shops and activities to browse. Line Dancing at Duke and Dotties is always a hit (go early for lessons!).

Arts and Crafts: Leon County Library is hosting a Drip and Dip-Marble Mug Creation for teens (ages 12-17). This will be held at the Fort Braden Branch. A Paint and Sip wine class at Painting with a Twist is always fun! Painting pottery at Color Me Mine or creating pottery at Beartree Pottery are always fun for groups. The Fuzzy Pineapple is hosting a Valentine’s Day Paint and Sip party on February 14 and several days of Candlemaking Workshops. The Bookshelf in Thomasville is hosting a Galentine’s Day party on Friday night. Adam Johnson (Pulitzer Prize, author of The Wayfinders) will speak at FSU’s William Johnson Building on February 12. The Museum of Fine Arts’ current exhibit is Zoë Charlton’s Akimbo. Grab your friends and enjoy Charlton’s vision before heading out to dinner or drinks.

If nothing works for the friend group this weekend, Heart will play at the Civic Center on February 18!

Movies: Cap City Video Lounge is always a great bet. For the week(end) ahead, they’re showing a few different movies. On February 12th, The Girl in Lover’s Lane and Kitten with a Whip will be shown. Then, on February 17th, The VHS Fest will begin at 2:00, with shows like Jem!, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mermaid Forest, Blood for Dracula, Psycho Ape, and Bad Taste. Then the Challenger Learning Center will show The Hunt for Red October on February 17th, with IMAX showing Scarlet, Wuthering Heights, and Project Hail Mary at various times/dates. AMC and CMX are also showing various movies, including Wuthering Heights, Sinners, Hamnet, Still Hope, Solo Mio, Pretty in Pink, Crime 101, and Casablanca. 621 Gallery will show Jordan Peele’s Nope on February 13.

Theatre and Concerts: Theatre Tallahassee is showcasing a comedy show from OMGITSWICKS (Josh Robinson), Ken Miller, and Myke Herlihy. Kristan Toczko will perform at Opperman Music Hall on February 13 as part of the Housewright Virtuoso Series.

The Outdoors: Tallahassee has so many wonderful parks and hiking trails that it’s hard to pick just a few to highlight, but walking around Leon Sinks is always a great option. Downtown has Cascades Park with an easy trail and a waterfall. Also of note are the Debby Lightsey Nature Trail, Lake Ella, and the Lafayette Heritage Trail Park. Tallahassee Museum is hosting Frolics of Florida - Galentine’s edition on February 13th, with a mimosa bar and charcuterie table. Valentine’s Day Goat Yoga will start at 11 AM.
