Things To Do This Weekend (November 01-07, 2019) in Tallahassee

HIGHLIGHTS



Friday, November 01: The Adams Street Block Party (Downtown Getdown) begins at 5:30 PM, it occurs before the FSU and FAMU game. The entry is free. There is live music (Young Bucks) and entertainment for families.

Also, College Town’s Block Party begins at 5 PM. The featured musical guest is Hardy.

Tonight is also First Friday at Railroad Square Art Park. Admission is free, food trucks will be on-premise and most of the shops stay open late. It begins at 6 PM.

Saturday, November 02: Many Farmer’s Markets in town start in the morning at 9 or 10 AM.

The Tallahassee Astronomical Society (TAS) is hosting “Monthly Skies over Tallahassee.” This starts at 10 AM for free (128 seats only); then again at 11 AM for $3. The show includes the monthly sky, constellations, stars, and planets.

The Woman’s Club of Tallahassee is holding its Holiday Happening Show and Sale Friday and Saturday. Admission is free. There will be a bake sale and items from local vendors for sale.


Sunday, November 03: Gadsden Art Museum's newest exhibition is on the Southern Quilting Project. Part of the exhibit is the Big Bend Quilt Trail (an exploration of 35 quilt-themed murals with a prize) that stretches from Tallahassee to Chattahoochee. The other aspect is the museum exhibit, From The Cedar Chest: Southern Quilting 1830s to Today. Admission to the museum is free for members and children under 17. College students with an ID pay $3 and nonmember adults pay $5 for entry. The hours are from 10 AM-5 PM.

Monday, November 04: The last night of the Middle Eastern Film Fest at FSU is tonight. The screening of the film, Capernaum, takes place as Askew Student Life Center at 6 PM. The closing reception begins at 7 PM. This event is free to the general public.

Classical Revolution at Ology.jpg

Ology Brewing Company and Dr. Benjamin Sung (playing Paganini’s Caprices on violin) are teaming up for the ‘Classical Revolution’ beginning at 8 PM. The event has a free entry where guests can try the different craft beer and appetizers.


Tuesday, November 05: Poetry and Storytelling Open Mic Night at My Favorite Books is being hosted by Linda Marie (Pushcart Prize nominee) with special guest Michael Rothenberg (FSU Libraries Poet in Residence). It begins at 7 PM.


Wednesday, November 06: Lauren Anderson is performing at The Junction at Monroe starting at 8 PM. Cover is $13. Lauren’s website and Youtube channel.



Thursday, November 07: Jazz Night at Level 8 Lounge begins at 8 PM. The evening’s music is led by a group of music students from FSU.

The first night of the 78th annual North Florida Fair is tonight. Admission is $5-25.
