Wednesday, May 1: Heyward House’s Magnolia Super Club Summertime Dinner Series begins at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $120 a person for a chef-curated dinner with custom wine pairings.

Indigo Girls will perform at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall as part of Opening Nights. Tickets start at $50 and the concert begins at 7:30 PM.

Mission San Luis’ Archeology Tour begins at 11:00 AM. Tickets are $0-5

Rotunda Rendavous at the Historic Capitol Museum. This event begins at 5:30 PM. This is a free event but an RSVP is needed.

Trivia Night at Oyster City Brewery begins at 7:00 PM.

Thursday, May 2: Dr. Elwood Carlson will give a talk titled, “Tides of People in North Florida,” beginning at 5:00 PM at the Tallahassee Museum. Admission is free for members, a small fee for non-members.

Setting the Table: Wisdom from Conflict, an event by the Village Square about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Speaker will be Resetting the Table’s Co-Founding CEO, Melissa Weintraub, a veteran peacebuilder and social entrepreneur who has spent her career building transformative communication across divides, overcoming dehumanization and distrust, and working toward a shared society in both the U.S. and Israel-Palestine. This is a free event but Village Square would like people to RSVP via the website.

Branmble’s Blue Grass Jam at Blue Tavern starts at 5:00 PM. There is no cover.

Charles Wesley Godwin at the Moon. The concert begins at 6:30 PM. Tickets start at $35.

Friday, May 3: Pin Up Power Hour at FireBetty’s. Indie Sinclair will be the host and the show begins at 9:00 PM. Ages 21+. Ticket price begins at $15.

Saturday, May 4: Tallahassee Mountain Biking Association is celebrating International Women’s Mounting Biking Day with a ride starting at Epic Bikes at 8:30 AM.

The Apalachee Audobon Society is having its May Birding Social at Lafayette Heritage Trail Park starting at 8:30 AM. The participants will meet in the parking lot at 8:15 to determine the trail. This is a free event.

The Alzheimer’s Project, Inc. will host Run for the Roses, a Kentucky Derby Party at The Retreat at Bradley’s Pond. This starts at 5:00 PM with tickets starting at $125.

May the 4th Star Wars Concert at Challenger Learning Center. The event begins at 4:00 PM but the music begins at 5:00 PM.

Beginning at noon (and going onto May 5), Growler Country is hosting its 3rd Annual Star Wars Celebration Weekend. There is a costume contest and drink specials.

The Brass Tap is hosting a Kentucky Derby Social starting at noon. There are several specials on offer.

Tuesday, May 7: The ninth annual Created Equal program, hosted by Leon County Government and The Village Square, titled, “Created Equal: A Bicentennial Tribute to Black and Brown History” will be held on Tuesday, May 7, at 5:30 p.m. at The Moon. This award-winning program will examine the stories, achievements, and contributions of Black and Brown communities to Leon County. This is a free event.

Midtown Reader hosts Stephen Hundley in conversation with Skip Horack over Hundley’s Book Bomb Island. This event begins at 6:30 PM.

Coffee and Commerce by the Chamber of Commerce will occur at 7:45 AM at Vino Beano.

The Tallahassee Ballet’s opening night of their production of Sleeping Beauty. It begins at 7:30 PM at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. Tickets start at $37.

Tallahassee Pottery Market is at United Church of Tallahassee beginning at 9:00 AM. Admission is free. At least twenty artisans will have booths.

Hearth and Soul, in collaboration with the Friends of Alfred B. Maclay Gardens, is having a storybook fundraiser called Scottish Faires, Gnomes, and Elves. There will also be pipes and drums.

Monday, May 13: Reflections and Reckoning: Brown vs. Board of Education at 70 years. This exhibit is showing at the Anderson Brickler Gallery. Various dates and times are available with the show ending on May 18.

The Second Annual Freedom’s Eve Emancipation Concert will be performed by the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. It will be at 8:00 PM at the Adderley Amphitheater at Cascades Park. This is a free event.

Pebble Hill Plantation will have a special guided house and garden tour that begins at 10:30 AM. Tickets are $8-16.

The Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Big Bend presents Havana Nights at 7:00 PM at Goodwood Gardens and Museum. Tickets start at $15.

Monticello’s Opera House will show Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street from May 17 to June 2. For Friday’s performance, curtains go up at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $12-24.

Monday, May 20: Emancipation Day Events will occur throughout the day

Emancipation Day will be celebrated by Leon County through many events over the day. One is a re-enactment of the Reading of the Emancipation Proclamation on the steps of the Knott House at 11:00 AM. This is a free event for the public.


Tuesday, May 21: Basic Blacksmithing Skills, a class from The Tallahassee Museum, begins at 10:00 AM. This is for ages 21+. Entrance is the only fee.
